Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) are those actions done on a territory in spaces modified by humans to recover natural processes
and with environmental, social, and economic challenges in an effective and adaptive way, while providing benefits for human well-being and biodiversity.
NBS is a form of “eco-innovation” that specifically promotes nature as a key role in mitigating and adapting our society to the climate crisis.
There is a growing awareness of the need to promote sustainable cities for the future. In this challenge, urban greenery plays an essential role,
in addition, it can present more efficient and cost-effective solutions than the traditional technical approaches in run-off water management, wind and temperature regulation, noise control or the improvement of air quality, among others.

Nature Based Solutions (NBS) as a new smart way to manage urban planning and classical engineering
Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) are effective alternatives for mitigating hydrometeorological hazards against classic grey solutions. Due to the loss and limited availability of green spaces in metropolitan areas, and fast urbanisation in recent decades, there is a need to promote sustainable cities for the future.
